John Mills

John graduated from Staffordshire University in 1993 with a BA (Hons) degree in Sport and Recreation Studies and has since completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sport, Health and Exercise Science.

Prior to joining British Cycling he held a variety of coaching, sports development and teaching posts, including Head of Recreation at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Senior Lecturer at the University of Sunderland and in a voluntary capacity, Head of Coach Education for British Triathlon.

He joined British Cycling in 1999 as Coaching and Education Director, before taking on added responsibility for the Go-Ride Development programme in 2003. Since this time his responsibilities have grown in line with British Cycling’s continued development with the addition of Cycle Training, Recreation Education and more recently Participant Education.

In his current role John is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of British Cycling’s Coaching, Education and Development programmes, which currently employ over 80 full time staff. John is also Project Director for the International Coach Education Programme being run by the International Federation (Union Cycliste Internationale), a programme that is based on British Cycling’s successful United Kingdom Coaching Certificate programme.
