Trevor Clay

Trevor Clay is Principal at Chesterfield College, a role held since July 2012. Trevor began his career at Ashfield District Council and spent the next 16 years in a variety of local government roles including at Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottinghamshire Police, Nottingham Trent Polytechnic and Derby City Council where he worked as Principal Finance and Administration Officer in Leisure Services, taking charge of Derby’s Cemeteries and Crematorium. Trevor moved into FE in 1991 as Director of Finance at Arnold and Carlton College, and became Head of College following Arnold and Carlton’s merger with New College Nottingham.

Trevor moved to Chesterfield College in August 2000 as Director of Corporate Services and became Deputy Principal in 2008. As Deputy Principal, Trevor helped to develop the College’s work with employers. Under its commercial arm, Learning Unlimited, the College has become the largest provider of apprenticeships in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, working with over 1,000 employers who between them employ over 2,750 Chesterfield College trained apprentices.
