Alex Bright

Alex Bright is 17 years of age and was elected as Deputy Youth Mayor of Southend-on-Sea in February 2010. Since being elected he has undertaken numerous successful campaigns including one which sought to increase the age at which adult fares were charged on local buses from the original fourteen to the current sixteen years of age. Alex takes a keen interest in politics and hopes to enter into a political career after a gap year which includes a political internship and a period of travelling and then onto university where he hopes to read Politics. As well as being Deputy Youth Mayor, Alex has undertaken many other roles of responsibility such as Head Boy of his Preparatory School, a Judge for the Vinvolved national volunteering awards, Young Ambassador for a local Hospice and a member of his local Olympics Board as well as having an input with other organisations.
