Professor Corinne May-Chahal

Prof. Corinne May-Chahal was appointed as interim co-chair of The College of Social Work in August 2010. She has been engaged with social work as a practitioner, educator, researcher and leader for over 35 years and has substantial experience of the statutory, voluntary, further and higher education sectors.

As Professor of Applied Social Science at Lancaster University, Corinne has initiated new practice learning models, maintained and promoted agency partnerships and continues to teach on social work degrees at Masters and Undergraduate level alongside supervision of doctoral students in social work. She has published widely with a particular focus on social work with children and families and child protection.

Corinne was a member of the Social Work and Social Policy panel for the Research Assessment Exercise in 2008, a founding member of the Family Justice Council, a member of the Munro Reference Group and also the Munro Review Implementation Working Group.
