Eleanor Schooling

Eleanor Schooling, Director of Children’s Services, London Borough of Islington

With over 30 years experience in the education system, Eleanor has raised the standards of education in challenging metropolitan areas throughout her career. A highly qualified professional, she is an Ofsted Inspector, and a member of the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ACDS).

Beginning her career as a primary school teacher, Eleanor was subsequently appointed as Head of two Lambeth schools. Moving on from Lambeth, Eleanor was responsible for school standards in Tower Hamlets, before taking on the position of Director of Education in Waltham Forest.

Eleanor first came to Islington in 2005, as the Director of Education for Cambridge Education. Eleanor was responsible for education and school standards and the quality of education provision throughout the borough.

In 2009 Eleanor was appointed to Director of Children’s Services at Islington Council. In her current role, her remit has extended to include not only education and schools, but all children’s services including services for vulnerable children, and children in need, youth provision, youth offending and the delivery of our Building Schools for the Future programme.
