Steve Corns

Steve Corns, Programme Manager, H&SC Integration (IM&T), Wigan Council
NW, Chair of ADASS Information Management Group

Steve has been involved in IT support and management within Wigan Council since 1989, and became Service Manager for Social Services IT in 1999.

Currently, he’s seconded to the ALW PCT as Programme Manager for Health & Social Care Integration (IM&T) and also chairs for the ADASS NW IMG.

Steve’s roles have enabled him to lead several major high profile IT initiatives, such as new social care systems procurement, implementation and support, mobile working and electronic document management.

He is currently working with NHS partners and NPfIT national programme to develop and promote information sharing opportunities for health and social care, supported by an innovative use of IM&T, NHS N3 connection, NHS Spine access and tracing, use of NHS Numbers within Social Care and enabling shared access to health and social care partner systems for key staff, which have also involved him with development of Information Governance and Information Sharing Agreements.

Through ADASS IMG, they are working in partnership with DwP to enable a secure N3 / GCSX gateway to enable all councils to access N3 and NHS Spine applications without the need for a local N3 connection.

Finally, Steve is now involved with the public sector efficiency agenda and developing Citizen Portal / Social Media technologies to enable citizen self serve, engaging with hard to reach groups, reduction in avoidable contacts and admissions, improved business intelligence, reduction in back office support and ultimately real service transformation. Doing more with less – an exciting challenge indeed!
