Dr Al-Bimani, an expert in petroleum engineering, joined Sultan Qaboos in 1986. He became head of department, and then deputy vice-chancellor for academic affairs and community services before his current post. He continues to be closely involved in teaching and research, and works to increase awareness of bioethics in the university.
