Hazel Brodie

Hazel Brodie was appointed as the project manager for the Improving Cancer Treatment Assessment and Support for Older People Project in 2010. She currently works within the Health and Social Care Team at Macmillan Cancer Support.

She has led the delivery of this project which recently published its final report entitled Cancer Services Coming of Age. In addition to this Hazel oversees Macmillan’s Age Old Excuse campaign, which calls for higher quality cancer care for older people.

Prior to joining Macmillan Hazel worked in the NHS for eight years, at NHS Westminster, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

She studied Biomedical Sciences at University of Southampton and later a Masters in Public Health at the University of Manchester. After graduating she spent two years working in Africa in international development programmes. Hazel has a particular interest in geriatric oncology, cancer screening, tackling health inequalities, HIV and reducing maternal mortality.
