Glyn Williams
Glyn is Head of Migration Policy in the Home Office Immigration and Border Policy Directorate. Glyn is responsible for temporary and permanent migration routes to the UK and the Government’s programme for reducing net migration. Previously Glyn was Director, Visa Services in International Group of the UKBA.
Glyn started his career with the Department of Trade and Industry (now BIS) in 1985. He worked in a wide range of posts including trade promotion, company law, employment law, energy policy and privatisation of British Steel. He was Private Secretary to the Minister for Trade 1989/90 and, on loan to FCO, First Secretary in the UK Mission to the UN in Geneva 1993-1998, working on GATT/WTO. He was also director of the Export Control Organisation which is responsible for administering the UK’s strategic export controls. The strong themes throughout his career have been regulatory policy, EU and international affairs, and more recently running service delivery operations.
