Hugh Annett
Hugh Annett is Director of Public Health at Bristol City Council and the PCT.
Hugh Annett is an experienced public health professional with a track record of providing leadership for effective NHS and partnership action to achieve public health objectives, and for developing, managing and delivering high quality public health services. Currently this is in Bristol where Hugh is Director of Public Health for NHS Bristol and Bristol City Council, which serve an urban population of c.420, 000, including areas of significant deprivation. Before re-entering the NHS in 2002 as Director of Public Health for Gloucester and the Forest of Dean, Hugh was Head of the Health Department in the Secretariat of the Aga Khan, with responsibility for one of the largest non-profit, health care systems in the developing world. Prior to that he was Head of International Community Health at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, during which time his department achieved recognition as a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Health Systems Development. Hugh continues to complement his primary responsibilities for the health of a population with public health teaching and consultancy.
