David Barlow
David is director of operations for SOVA where he has specific responsibility for the organisation’s diverse range of programmes across London and the East and South East of England. In the 12 years that David has worked for SOVA he has directly experienced the enormous changes in the criminal justice system. In particular David has been involved in SOVA’s rapid expansion as the level of provision for offenders both in custody and the community has developed and grown. He has managed projects for youth and adult offenders and for those at risk of committing crime. The projects have ranged from small community mentoring schemes to region wide and transnational programmes.
Prior to working in the criminal justice system David worked in the commercial and community sectors, in the latter specialising in working with a range of vulnerable groups including people with disabilities and HIV.
Away from work David is a social and community campaigner for which he was recognised with a community entrepreneur’s award.
