Denise White took her degree at the University of Cambridge and subsequently undertook postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester.

She worked for Greater Manchester Probation Area for over 25 years in a variety of roles, both as a practitioner and manager. She was appointed Chief Officer of Derbyshire in 2005 and has been a member of the Parole Board since 2006.
