Sir Charles Pollard QPM

Sir Charles Pollard QPM, Chairman, Restorative Solutions CIC

Charles Pollard was Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police, the UK’s largest non-Metropolitan force, for eleven years up to February 2002 following service in London and Sussex. During that time Thames Valley Police became the first police organisation to develop the use of Restorative Justice for dealing with young offenders and in community policing.

A board member of the Youth Justice Board for England & Wales from its inception in 1999 to August 2006, he led on Restorative Justice and was Acting Chairman in 2003/2004.

Between 2002–2005, he also chaired the Justice Research Consortium, working with others to undertake major trials of Restorative Justice under the Home Office Crime Reduction programme.

He is now Chairman of Restorative Solutions Community Interest Company, a not-for-profit enterprise set up for the public good providing schools, community based organisations, the police & other criminal justice agencies with training and technical support to implement Restorative Justice. Charles is also Vice-Chair of the new victims RJ charity Why me – Victims for Restorative Justice.
