Ian Curryer, Corporate Director for Children and Families, Nottingham City Council

Ian has worked in Nottingham for over 20 years. He has taught in suburban and urban primary schools, spending most of his teaching career in inner-City, multi-ethnic schools. He has been a head teacher of a large primary and nursery school, an OFSTED inspector and school improvement adviser with responsibility for ethnic minority achievement and Literacy.

Ian has worked at a senior level in Children’s Services in a number of roles and is currently the Corporate Director for Children and Families. Ian has been a Board Director of Nottingham New Deal for Communities and Connexions Nottinghamshire and he has published work on “Strategies for Building School Capacity” (Hadfield, Chapman, Curryer & Barrett, NCSL, 2002).
