David Akinsanya

 David Akinsanya
David is a freelance journalist/reporter who works in both television and radio. He spent 20 years working in broadcasting at the BBC, Sky News, Channel 4 and other independent production companies. David has reported on current affairs in Europe, the US, Australia and the Caribbean. In the UK, David has a reputation for making social affairs programmes and is the presenter of Find me a Family, Channel 4.

Born in 1965, David grew up in Local Authority care in Essex. He spent time in youth custody but from the age of 19 he has been a positive person, getting involved in voluntary work. David ran a hostel for young single homeless people for 15 years, living on-site whilst working on his career. He provides respite care to looked after children and is heavily involved in his local community in Hackney.

David spends a lot of his working time addressing and chairing conferences, training youth and community workers and speaking in schools and youth clubs. He is often asked by media outlets to comment on current social issues.

David is a Trustee for The Big Issue and Who Cares? Magazine.
